Women Led

Lugu Shea, serves as a social enterprise providing employment for a lot of the women in the Koblimagu community, Tamale in the northern Ghana. We have currently formed a group of about 300 women in the community where 80% of the women are solely involved in the collection of shea nuts whilst 30% are involved in the shea butter extraction and production process.

The women have derived social and financial advantages from the group by learning new skills and collaborating with other women. We have also engaged the services of a local development partner / consultant that trains the women on income generation activities, micro business strategy as well as other activities that will enable them generate regular income often by producing shea related products (shea butter soap, black soap etc.) to sell at the local markets. By doing so, they do not only receive additional training but adds additional income to their household using the skills they have developed.
